Release Notes — v0.6.3

Release Date: 2026-08-19

TaipanStack v0.6.3 is a security and resilience maintenance release focused on hardening the rate limiting components against anomalous state corruption and type mutation.

🛡️ Security & Resilience

  • Rate Limiter Type Mutation Resilience: Hardened RateLimiter against extreme type mutations (e.g., custom mutated types like strings masquerading as numbers or anomalous float operations) that could crash the service. Operations are now gracefully handled via strict Look-Before-You-Leap (LBYL) checks, falling back to safe defaults or returning appropriate Err states instead of raising uncaught exceptions (PR #1139).
  • Anomalous Math Operations: Implemented safeguards in RateLimiter to gracefully absorb anomalous mathematical operations caused by invalid types or state corruption, ensuring the system degrades safely without crashing (PR #1139).

🧹 Clean Code, Refactoring & Typing

  • Circuit Breaker Cyclomatic Complexity: Reduced cyclomatic complexity in CircuitBreaker by refactoring lock acquisition and state checks into unified helper methods (PR #1154).
  • Resilience Enum Identity Checks: Updated CircuitState enum comparisons across the resilience module (Circuit Breaker, Health Pinger) to use identity checks (is, is not) instead of equality checks to prevent exceptions from __eq__ overrides (PR #1155).
  • Adaptive Bulkhead Typing: Enhanced typing for Adaptive Bulkhead by explicitly using Coroutine instead of Awaitable for internal async tasks to resolve strict mypy typing errors (PR #1158).
