Release Notes — v0.6.1

Release Date: 2026-07-14

TaipanStack v0.6.1 is a quality, security, and stability update that focuses on security boundary hardening, resilience to concurrent resource exhaustion, significant cyclomatic complexity refactoring, full standardization of test suite nomenclature, and comprehensive chaos testing validation.

🛡️ Security

  • Rate Limiter Hardening: Hardened rate_limit.py against infinite token mutations, float precision issues, and float/int type confusion under extreme loads (PR #966).
  • JWT Secret Validation: Hardened key verification checks in decode_jwt and added property-based fuzz tests to protect JWT decoding against invalid parameters and malformed keys (PR #973).
  • Project Name Validation: Hardened validation guards in validate_project_name to correctly handle extreme or malformed argument inputs for max_length, allow_hyphen, and allow_underscore, modifying _validate_type to correctly reject boolean inputs (PR #968).
  • Large Password Crash Fix: Resolved a crash inside UserService.create_user when validating extremely large password payloads (PR #967).
  • Dead Code Elimination: Removed unused private constants _SAFE_HASH_ALGORITHMS in guards.py, _VALID_SQL_PREFIX in sanitizers.py, and _SQL_IDENTIFIER_REGEX in types.py to reduce attack and maintenance surface (PR #989).
  • Environment Variable Bounds: Documented strict boundary validations for guard_env_variable (PR #1006).

🌊 Concurrency & Resilience

  • Orchestrator Concurrency Leak Fix: Resolved a bulkhead acquisition memory leak in ResilienceOrchestrator under concurrent execution (PR #980).
  • Adaptive Resilience & Retry: Enhanced robustness of adaptive features and documented AdaptiveRetry patterns (PR #974).

⚡ Clean Code, Refactoring & Typing

  • Cyclomatic Complexity Reductions: Proactively refactored and extracted nested structures into dedicated private helpers across:
  • Adaptive resilience and JWT validation (AdaptiveCircuitBreaker._evaluate_trip, _validate_jwt_algorithms) (PR #1104).
  • Core compatibility and validator modules (PR #979).
  • Version format parsing and path normalization (_check_version_format, _normalize_path_input) (PR #976).
  • Retry and rate limiter modules (PR #984).
  • Filesystem directory traversal (ensure_dir) and model validation rules (PR #993).
  • Environment lines configuration parsing and password guards validation (PR #988).
  • Token bucket consumption logic inside RateLimiter (PR #1002).
  • Model attributes logic inside security/models.py (PR #997).
  • Type Hint Enhancements: Enforced strict type annotations on web bridge header configurations (PR #971) and refactored signature arguments in Pydantic models to eliminate type ignores (PR #1003).
  • Dead Code Elimination: Purged unused variables and dead components from test suites and main modules (PR #1000).

✅ QA & Testing

  • Test Suite Naming Standardization: Audited and renamed the full test suite to strictly follow the standardized test_<module>_<behavior>_<expected_result> discovery convention, removing legacy _standard_expected.py naming suffixes (PR #994, PR #981, PR #975).
  • Chaos & Integration Validation: Implemented concurrent chaos integration tests to simulate real-world microservice resilience, generating SDET reports verifying zero deadlock guarantees (PR #1004, PR #999, PR #995, PR #986).
  • Target Mock Corrections: Corrected target patching paths in sysconfig compatibility tests to avoid mock leakage (PR #992).
  • Property-based Fuzzing: Integrated property-based boundary fuzz testing to verify input validators and prevent Denial of Service vectors under extreme parameters (PR #990).
  • Edge Conditions: Covered edge case scenarios in the chaos orchestrator under variable configurations (PR #972).

📚 Documentation & Build

  • Monadic Result Monad Pattern: Aligned code snippets in documentation with monadic Result patterns (PR #998).
  • Architecture Updates: Updated documentation maps to represent bridge structures and adaptive layers (PR #1001).
  • MkDocs Fixes: Fixed orphaned pages breaking strict mkdocs building pipelines (PR #985).
  • SDET Proof Reports: Integrated proof and simulation reports under the docs directory (sdet_proof_report.md, sdet_chaos_report.md, sdet_audit_report.md) (PR #995, PR #986).
